It’s Breaking Bad meets Little Shop of Horrors – Apothek’s stunning visual debut, and partnering video for single ‘Family’. Splicing clandestine chlorophyll with moments of mirrored reality, the video lands alongside Apothek’s UK/EU Tour with pop wunderkind Susanne Sundfør.
Combining the freewheeling spontaneity of singer/songwriter Morten Myklebust with the more premeditative musings of producer Nils Martin Larsen, Apothek straddles the divide between electronic and organic – a dynamic dichotomy not far removed from the video brief itself.
Lyrically speaking, the track observes the dysfunctional, and at times destructive, quandary of family life. Stream it on SoundCloud and Spotify; also available on iTunes.
Fresh from a buzzed (The Line Of Best Fit, Crack Magazine, Ja Ja Ja) and beyond-capacity showcase at Norway’s Øya Festival, Apothek are back in London next month for a special 0E0E headline show. The singles-club-come-club-night returns November 9 at Old Blue Last, with support from Danish trio Slaughter Beach and Norwegian songstress Frøkedal.
