Arcane Roots are finally back! Following the release of in-between campaigns single ‘Over and Over’ last April, the band return with a brand new EP, new single, new band directed video and new label. Signing to Easy Life (Lower Than Atlantis, Fatherson) / Sony Red (Run The Jewels, The Cribs), the band will be releasing the epic new EP titled ‘Heaven and Earth’ on October 16th, with lead single ‘If Nothing Breaks, Nothing Moves’ available now purchase as a digital single (with radio impact date of September 4th), or as an instant grat with and EP preorder. The single also debuted on the Radio 1 Rock Show on July 26th, and then played the next evening on Radio 1 again, but by Annie Mac.

Andrew Groves explains more about the single ‘If Nothing Breaks, Nothing Moves’, and its astonishing video, which he shot, directed and starred in – ‘If Nothing Breaks, Nothing Moves’ is a promise to our fans to give it our all every single show. I purposely made it the first on the record, and the first single, so that i would have to make that promise each night. I wanted to put myself in a position where it had to be all or nothing. I was also very aware during the writing that any record could be our last, so i wanted to ensure that the lyrics on the EP were clear and understandable. I felt that if i didn’t put myself on the line, then i could never expect anyone to relate or connect to my lyrics’.

‘This really manifested itself when we needed a video for the single. I had a rough idea in my head for a treatment for the song, but had only really learnt some basic video editing over the previous tour, making the daily tour videos. I wanted it to be like the videos i love, like the singers i love, who captivate you with their performance alone. Except I hate making videos. I hate worrying about my hair, appearance and my clothes. i hate singing to camera and I never ever feel more self conscious or like i’m showing off. So i wanted to write a treatment that took all of that away, yet give the performance i always wanted, and i also wanted to direct it and star in it.’

‘I wanted the video to embody and reflect the song entirely, to show all the struggle and frustration but, also show the internal fight to be who i’d always wanted to be. I didn’t want it to be an act or performance either, i wanted it to be real, i wanted it to be something worthy of the promise, i wanted to be captivating. So i wore my stage clothes and i kept my hair exactly as it was when i woke up and I was tied up to a chair in a studio in Hackney. Everything you then see on the screen is real. 100%. I just concentrated on singing the words and holding my breath.’

Live wise, Arcane Roots have spent the last year touring UK and Europe with Muse, Coheed and Cambria, Enter Shikari and Biffy Clyro, as well as their 7 week UK/European mega tour in April/May 2015. They will be heading out to Europe in September for a 3 week headline tour (which also takes in Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg), which follow Y Not and Hevy festivals (and 2000 Trees which happened in early July). They will also have some UK headline dates ready to announce next week, Monday August 3rd.
