Norwegian indie-pop darling and recent MTV EMA Award winner Astrid S premieres her highly anticipated “Hyde” music video this week on The FADER this week. The music video, starring Astrid and highly acclaimed contemporary dancer/actor Viktor Leifsson as Hyde, was shot in stunning surroundings in Reykjavik, Iceland earlier this fall and was directed by Hörður Sveinsson and Helgi Jóhannsson and produced by Atli Viðar Þorsteinsson.
“My second music video! We shot it in this beautiful house, and outside around Reykjavik in the beautiful surroundings. We used a lot of mirrors, which helped me convey the message about a person transforming into another person. It was such a cool experience to record my video on Iceland, and also with a dancer and a big film crew. Everyone was so professional and nice that everything felt like a dream (except from swimming in the ice cold water. Brrr). I hope you like it! – Astrid S
The track, produced by the raging popular Lido (The Weeknd, Alt-J, Bastille, Banks) and co-produced by the Swedish duo Cal Maui & Blisse, has already received wide critical acclaim and jumped into the top 7 on the Spotify charts in her Astrid’s native country Norway, while achieving substantial viral chart positions in other territories including the US, UK, Canada and the Nordics.
“Hyde” represents the first new music from Astrid S since her debut hit single “2AM” and her appearance on Avicii’s July 2015 “Waiting For Love” remix EP. After releasing “2AM”, Astrid has reached double platinum status in Norway, has had more than 20 million worldwide streams on Spotify, sold out her first Norwegian club tour and has been officially remixed by hot producer Matoma, amongst others. This fall she won her first MTV EMA award as Best Norwegian Act.

Growing up in the small town of Berkåk, Norway with less than 1,000 people and long cold winters, Astrid S was drawn to music at an early age. She started playing piano when she was only 6 years old and began singing and writing songs as a young teenager. Now at 19 years old, Astrid is making waves as a performing artist, singer and songwriter after releasing her first single, “2AM”.
