Total Eclipse of the Heart is a dramatic power ballad by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, released on February 11, 1983, as the lead single from her fifth studio album, *Faster Than the Speed of Night*. Written and produced by Jim Steinman, the song showcases Tyler’s distinctive raspy vocals and theatrical production. The accompanying music video, directed by Russell Mulcahy, was filmed at Holloway Sanatorium in Surrey, England, and features surreal, gothic imagery inspired by the film *Futureworld*. The song achieved worldwide success, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart, and has become one of the defining hits of the 1980s.
