Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” is a vibrant synth-pop track released on August 11, 2023, as the final single from her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The song draws inspiration from Roan’s childhood dream of becoming a cheerleader, infusing elements of electropop and indie pop to create an energetic anthem. The accompanying music video, directed by Jackie! Zhou, was filmed in Roan’s hometown of Springfield, Missouri, featuring local landmarks and appearances by her grandparents. In the video, Roan teaches a lively dance routine, reminiscent of the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.,” encouraging audience participation. Notably, the sequined marching band outfit worn by Roan in the video was auctioned for $88,900 in February 2025, with proceeds benefiting Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts.
