Chappell Roan – Pink Pony Club (2020)
Directed by: Griffin Stoddard
Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” is a vibrant pop anthem that narrates the journey of a young woman leaving her conservative hometown to embrace her true self in the liberating atmosphere of a West Hollywood gay club. Released on April 3, 2020, the song blends elements of pop, synth-pop, dance-pop, power pop, and disco. The accompanying music video, directed by Griffin Stoddard, features appearances by drag queens Victoria “Porkchop” Parker and Meatball, enhancing its celebration of self-discovery and acceptance. Despite initial challenges, including a delayed release by Atlantic Records, “Pink Pony Club” gained significant popularity years later, charting within the top ten in countries like Australia, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This resurgence culminated in a standout performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where Chappell Roan also secured the Best New Artist award.
