Directed by: Trey Fanjoy
Jezebel is a spirited country track by Chely Wright, released on December 3, 2001, as the second and final single from her fifth studio album, Never Love You Enough. Co-written by Marcus Hummon and Jay DeMarcus, the song narrates a woman’s bold confrontation with a romantic rival. The accompanying music video, directed by Trey Fanjoy, premiered in December 2001 and portrays Wright discovering her partner’s infidelity through a psychic’s visions and taking symbolic revenge using a voodoo doll. The video culminates with Wright reclaiming her partner, leaving the “Jezebel” character alone in the rain. “Jezebel” resonated with audiences, peaking at number 23 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and earning a nomination for Fashion Plate Video of the Year at the 2002 CMT Flameworthy Awards.
