Cold War Kids – Restless
Cold War Kids – Restless (2017)
Directed by: SHELLY
Cold War Kids premiere the video for their new track “Restless” today on Vevo- the clip was shot in LA and directed by Made By Shelly.
“LA people are typecast into two roles,” says Cold War Kids front man Nathan Willett about the bands inspiration for the track and video. “The hungry single artist chasing their dreams or the happy couple that is compromised and settled. You’re either edgy, moody, inspired or safe, soft and ineffectual. This is troubling to me. Where are the stories where love actually sets us free? What would it look like to live that way… to have the best of both worlds?”
LA Divine – Cold War Kids’ sixth album and first for Capitol Records out April 7th -pays tribute to Los Angeles in all its strange glory, embodying the Long Beach-bred band’s endless fascination with their adopted hometown. Produced by their repeat collaborator Lars Stalfors (Health, Local Natives), the album opens with lead single “Love is Mystical,” which was praised by NME for taking the band’s “rousing and soulful anthemics to new heights.” The single held the No. 1 spot for Most Increased Plays at AAA radio for two consecutive weeks and hit the Top 5 of the Alt 18 Countdown and Top 10 at Alternative and Top 5 at AAA radio. The song has more than 5.3 million Spotify streams worldwide and jumped into both Spotify’s U.S. and Global Viral charts. Cold War Kids will perform “Love Is Mystical” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 5th, airing at 11:35|10:35 c on ABC.
Cold War Kids will celebrate the release of LA Divine with a Pop Up event in Los Angeles (April 6th), an iHeart Radio Album Release Party featuring a 60-minute live performance and Q&A that will stream and broadcast live across iHeart Media’s Alternative Radio Stations (April 7th), performances and signings at Fingerprints Music in Long Beach, CA (April 8th) and an in store performance at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, NY (April 10th). All details on the Rough Trade event can be found here. Those who pre-order the album will receive instant downloads of “Love Is Mystical,” “Can We Hang On?” and “So Tied Up” Ft. Bishop Briggs which TIME calls “enticing…a fast-paced toe-tapper with a stadium-sized arrangement… as far as angsty, passionate anthems to conflicted love affairs go, this one ticks all the right boxes.”
The band just wrapped a sold out North American headline tour and will also join Young The Giant on the “Home of the Strange Tour,” beginning August 2nd in Louisville, KY. The run will include a performance at Central Park SummerStage and continue on through the end of September. Full itinerary and tickets for all shows are available at coldwarkids.com. Coming on the heels of 2014’s Hold My Home – which featured the chart-topping, Gold-certified single “First” – LA Divine is Cold War Kids’ most expansive and ambitious effort so far. Formed in 2004 in Fullerton, CA, Cold War Kids are Nathan Willett, Matt Maust, Joe Plummer, Matthew Schwartz, and David Quon.
