Downtown Boys are a Providence, RI six-piece consisting of Adrienne Berry, Joey L DeFrancesco, Emmett FitzGerald, Norlan Olivo, Victoria Ruiz, and Dan Schleifer.
They describe themselves as a “bi bilingual political dance sax punk party”, but their mix of brittle spiky guitars, urgent tempos, blurting saxophones and frontwoman Victoria Ruiz‘s tuneless and frenzied shrieks makes them sound more like a completely disorienting mess on the verge of imploding on itself at any given second. (If that’s your idea of a party, then dive right in.)
They’ve been around for about three years now, but it’s only recently that Downtown Boys have found themselves getting some pretty serious and much deserved press.
