Drenge – Running Wild
Drenge – Running Wild (2015)
Directed by: Ed Lovelace
Today, Drenge premiered the video for their new single “Running Wild”, the new song to be lifted from their acclaimed new album Undertow. The video is directed by Ed Lovelace(whom the band worked with on their video for “We Can Do What We Want”) and is inspired by the rural way of life depicted in Gideon Koppel’s Sleep Furiously, Michelangelo Frammartino’s Le Quattro Volte and Ermanno Olmi’s The Tree of Wooden Clogs.
The band wanted to document modern farming life in the video; the weather beaten faces, 20 hour working days, a close relationship with animals and the land: a way of life that was really normal to Drenge when they were growing up in Derbyshire and which now seems distant and alien as they travel from city to city, airport to airport.
Drenge said, “It was an honor to work with Ed Lovelace again on this film, and we’re very grateful to the Richardson family for letting us film in the craggy limestone fells of Throwley Farm on the Derbyshire/Shropshire border”.
Drenge are Rory Loveless and Eoin Loveless. Undertow is the follow up to their acclaimed self-titled debut album, released in summer 2013. Written and recorded on tour last year, and between their hometown of Castleton and Sheffield, where the band now live, Undertow was produced by Ross Orton and, for the first time, features a third member, Rob Graham, playing bass on three songs.
Drenge will play the following live dates:
