Eera – White Water
Eera – White Water (2016)
Directed by: Jodie Canwell
Sultry, saline and ever-so-slightly turbulent, ‘White Water’ is afforded a visual component rich in revelry: “I came up with the idea of using scenes from a party as the main concept for the video,” she continues. “The party scenes are actually from my birthday earlier this year – we bought tacky silver curtains and [videographer] James Byrne walked around and took some random shots.”
From there, EERA (Anna Lena Bruland) commissioned the familial finesse of older sister Christina Bruland – a student at Oslo National Academy Of The Art – to splice in extra video footage, adding flickers of whimsical morose throughout. “I think it really adds something unexpected and interesting,” she says.”
The track itself is warmly received online; also garnering support from the likes of Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio 6music), Maz Tappuni, Dave Rowntree (XFM), Simon Raymonde and Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio).
Following on from her recent European tour with Erased Tapes wunderkind Douglas Dare, ‘White Water’ serves a stunning introduction to EERA’s forthcoming debut EP. The four-track offering is billed for release later this year – recorded and produced with Nick Rayner (Farewell J.R.) at his home studio in Cambridge.
