Eliot Sumner released her fourth and final music video of the summer, “Species”, today. In addition, Eliot will be releasing an EP entitled Early Reflections SMPLR on August 28th which includes songs from her forthcoming album.

“I love science fiction,” Eliot said of the meaning behind the pulsating, electric new song, “most sci fi involves a new alien species that doctors and scientists probe and observe. I’ve always felt quite alien so the song comes from a very real place.”

Eliot will be headlining two upcoming shows, in Los Angeles at Bardot on August 31st and New York at Pianos on September 16th. Last week marked the beginning of Eliot’s August and September tour with On An On with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and more – see full routing below.

“Species” follows the release the music video for “Firewood”, which premiered on Stereogum and “After Dark”, which premiered on Billboard.  “Species” is available now via digital partners – PRESS HERE to buy on iTunes.

Eliot‘s EP Information, which was released in 2014 via Cherrytree/Interscope still bore some of the synth-pop hallmarks of her output as I Blame Coco, but its release captured a new audience with a renewed sense of focus and clarity. There are some more sophisticated influences on the record, from her favorite band as a teenager, the Bad Seeds, to bands like Cluster, Faust, and Kraftwerk. Following the release of the EP, Eliot joined Lykke Li as support on her European tour dates. The backstage antics of Eliot and her band were captured in a three-part behind the scenes documentary that featured on i-D, “On the Road with Eliot Sumner and Lykke Li”. PRESS HERE to watch.
