Elliot Moss – Slip
Elliot Moss – Slip (2015)
Directed by: David Svedosh
21-year-old multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and visual artist Elliot Moss, will release his stellar debut album Highspeeds via Play It Again Sam later this year. The record was recorded at Moss’ home studio and performed, produced, and mixed by himself with the exception of a few friends.
The official video for “Slip”, the Beats 1-endorsed first single to be taken from Highspeeds, has premiered via THUMP. The concept for the video was conceived by Moss and David Svedosh, who also directed the video. THUMP notes, “Director David Svedosh takes a meditative take on a girl’s walk from the city to nature, where she promptly dives under the weight of the tune and is washed clean. The moody, soulful track tiptoes between so many sounds – indie, blues, chillwave, jazz – but wrought together electronically with an organic touch. Fans of Jamie xx and Chet Faker take note!”
Stereogum have described Elliot Moss’s sound thus, “He uses keyboard, beats, and brass to whip up similar emotional whirlpools, and his subject matter is decidedly centered around heartache…And as you listen to Highspeeds further, the heap of influences that the 21-year-old draws from becomes more apparently varied. Throughout the record you get the sense Moss is experimenting with nightmares and fairytales, converting topics into songs at will. ”
Recently, I.aM.mE crew member, former So You Think You Can Dance star and YouTube phenom Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb along with Renee Kester created a dance video to Moss’s song “Slip” with over 25 million views combined between Facebook and YouTube. The viral video propelled his album into the US Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and the song climbed up Spotify’s Viral world chart.
Moss has also announced a run of dates, his first trip to European shores.
