Elliott Smith’s “Son of Sam” was an opening track off of the 2000 album Figure 8. Though the song’s title implies that it is about the serial killer David Berkowitz, a serial killer who became known as “Son of Sam” after murdering six people, Smith himself stated in a contemporaneous interview that this was not the case.
