The Chain is a powerful track by Fleetwood Mac, originally released on their 1977 album *Rumours*. Notably, it is the only song on the album credited to all five members: Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood. The song was constructed from various rejected materials and solo works, meticulously assembled at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California, with engineers Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The live performance of “The Chain” was recorded on May 23, 1997, at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California, during the concert that produced the live album and DVD *The Dance*. This performance marked the reunion of the classic *Rumours*-era lineup after a decade. The accompanying video was directed by Bruce Gowers, capturing the band’s dynamic stage presence. The live version of “The Chain” reached number 30 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
