An unapologetic country anthem, “Redneck Woman” marked Gretchen Wilson’s explosive debut in 2004. Co-written with John Rich, the song celebrates working-class pride and challenges the polished image of women in country music. The music video, directed by David Hogan, features Wilson performing in a lively honky-tonk, mudding in a pickup truck and ATV, and includes cameos from Kid Rock, Big & Rich, Tanya Tucker, and Hank Williams Jr. The video was filmed in Nashville, with mudding scenes at the Fontanel Mansion and bar scenes at a local venue. The song topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for five weeks and earned Wilson a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2005.
