“Kinky Afro” is the second single from Happy Mondays’ 1990 album *Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches*. Released on October 8, 1990, the track became the band’s biggest hit in the United States, reaching number one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, and peaked at number five in the UK. The song features a chorus that paraphrases Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and was produced by Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne.
