I’lls – Let Me Have Just One
I’lls – Let Me Have Just One (2015)
Directed by: Hamish Mitchell
Let Me Have Just One is taken from I’lls forthcoming EP ‘Can I Go With You To Go Back To My Country’ that’s released July 6th on Solitaire Records. Track of jilted 808 melancholy, muted bass lines and hovering pads which backdrop the somber, devotional like vocals.
The video was directed and produced by I’lls member Hamish Mitchell, with the aim of distorting and misconstruing the footage of vocalist Simon Lam, whilst keeping his figure the focal point. It was originally shot on VHS and further processed through a video synth, bounced through mirrors, re-projected on fabric and recaptured through water.
I’lls (pronounced Isles) blend melodic incantations with ambient soundscapes and fractured electronica with echoes of Burial and late 90’s garage. They emerged in 2011with debut EP Thread, following up with A Warm Reception EP in 2013 and doing a double a-side 12″ Fifty-Phiphti / Asakusa last year.
The new EP contains 6 tracks which veer between abstract instrumentals and songs founded in pop structures, exploring intimate subject matter in indirect and shape-shifting ways.
