Bad, Bad Leroy Brown is an uptempo, strophic story song written and performed by American folk rock singer Jim Croce. Released on March 20, 1973, as part of his album *Life and Times*, the song tells the tale of a tough guy from the South Side of Chicago who meets his match in a barroom brawl. The track became Croce’s only number-one single during his lifetime, spending two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1973. Billboard ranked it as the No. 2 song for 1973. Croce was nominated for two 1973 Grammy Awards in the Pop Male Vocalist and Record of the Year categories for this song. An animated music video was featured on *The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour*, directed by John Wilson.
