A moody, emotionally rich country ballad, “I May Hate Myself in the Morning” marked Lee Ann Womack’s celebrated return to traditional country in 2004. With lyrics exploring late-night longing and regret, the song won acclaim for its raw honesty. The Trey Fanjoy-directed video adds visual intimacy, portraying Womack in dimly lit, reflective spaces, including scenes with fellow country artist Jack Ingram. Filmed partly in the Fort Worth Stockyards, it helped the single peak at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and win the 2005 CMA Award for Single of the Year.
