Little May have released their stunning Aaron Dessner produced debut For The Company today on Capitol Records / Dew Process. The album can be streamed in full at Stereogum, noting, “Their self-titled debut EP merged ghostly folk music with swelling pop arrangements….For The Company sounds even more expansive, while somehow less obvious in its emotional peaks and valleys. To put it simply, it’s lovely.”

The band has also released a hauntingly beautiful video for single “Seven Hours” to celebrate the release. The video is a hopeful adventure; a paradox; exploring loss, longing and change all appropriately set in both the center of Sydney and in an underwater paradise of our imaginations.  Director, Gareth Davies, the visionary behind the clip interprets,  “Seven Hours seemed appropriate for exploring a more surreal narrative – it comes from an idea of a man moving through and letting go of a past relationship and coming to terms with this loss.  Whales are a totem for me, personally – so it was serendipitous to see afterwards that they also appear all throughout the band’s album artwork also.  There was definitely something significant and special about working on this video.”

Little May have caught the attention of tastemakers far beyond their Sydney home with Mojo declaring “The Australian intricate, dramatic harmonic pop proves appropriately ornate on this soaring yet engagingly earthy first album”. The LP has been added to Eclectic24 KCRW’s new music stream and was spotlighted on Huw Stephens ‘It’s Album Time’ segment on BBC Radio 1 and has just been announced as triple j’s feature album.

It’s safe to say that the last two years have been a whirlwind for age-old friends Hannah Field, Liz Drummond and Annie Hamilton from topping Hype Machine charts to sold-out Australian shows, support tours with Angus and Julia Stone, Bernard Fanning, Cold War Kids & Rodriguez, international festival appearances including The Great Escape, Bonnaroo Festival and CMJ where they were officially selected as one of the “11 Breakout Acts of CMJ”. The trio’s May/June European tour saw them selling out their London show two months in advance and their current 25-date worldwide tour will see them play the UK, Europe and USA, further solidifying themselves as an ‘act to watch’ as touted by the likes of The Huffington Post and The Guardian.

The band’s US tour kicks off this fall, Little May will make stops in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, and more. See below for a full run of dates.
