A deeply poignant piano‑led ballad exploring love, loss, and biblical allegory, “Samson” was first released on her 2002 indie album *Songs* (Christmas 2001 recording) and later re-recorded for her 2006 studio album *Begin to Hope*. The officially filmed music video, directed by Peter Sluszka, employs atmospheric black‑and‑white stop‑motion artistry—paper cut‑outs and sculptures evolve around Spektor as she performs at a piano, visually amplifying the lyrical intimacy. Though never originally released as a single, the *Begin to Hope* version charted internationally, and the song was certified Gold in the U.S. in May 2025.
