Ronnie Milsap’s “Lost in the Fifties Tonight (In the Still of the Night)” is a nostalgic medley that seamlessly blends original composition with doo-wop classic. Released on July 13, 1985, as part of his *Greatest Hits, Vol. 2*, the song combines “Lost in the Fifties Tonight” by Mike Reid and Troy Seals with The Five Satins’ 1956 hit “In the Still of the Night” by Fred Parris. The track showcases Milsap’s smooth vocals and evokes a longing for the simplicity of the 1950s. It achieved significant success, topping the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and reaching number 8 on the Adult Contemporary chart. The song earned Milsap a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1986 and was named Song of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. The accompanying music video, directed by David Hogan, features vintage visuals that complement the song’s retro theme.
