Released on October 25, 2022, the music video was written and directed by Swift herself. The video features a star-studded cast including Laura Dern as the wicked stepmother, the Haim sisters as the stepsisters, Jack Antonoff as the prince, Dita Von Teese as the fairy goddess, and Pat McGrath as Queen Pat. The narrative follows Swift’s character, House Wench Taylor, as she transforms and ascends through an elevator, symbolizing self-worth and empowerment. The production was managed by Taylor Swift Productions, Inc. and Revolution Pictures, with cinematography by Rina Yang and production design by Ethan Tobman.
