Gangsters was the debut single by The Specials, released in 1979. The song is a reworking of Prince Buster’s ska track “Al Capone” and marked the beginning of the Two-Tone movement. Its lyrics reflect a real-life incident that occurred while the band was on tour in France. The song reached No. 6 on the UK charts and became one of the band’s early hits. Directed by Rick Elgood, the music video is a black-and-white visual capturing the band’s punk and ska energy.
