A heartfelt country ballad, “Leave the Pieces” marked the breakout single for The Wreckers, the duo of Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp. Released in February 2006 as the lead single from their debut album *Stand Still, Look Pretty*, the song narrates the emotional turmoil of a woman urging her indecisive partner to make a definitive choice. The accompanying music video, directed by Trey Fanjoy, features Harp packing up and leaving her boyfriend, with Branch picking her up, interspersed with scenes of the duo performing on a porch and beside an old car. The video topped CMT’s Top Twenty Countdown for two consecutive weeks in August 2006. The song achieved significant acclaim, reaching number 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified Gold by the RIAA.
