Ego Trippin” is a 1986 single by Ultramagnetic MCs, featuring a pioneering use of dense, minimalist production with erratic lyricism by Ced-Gee and Kool Keith. It was the first hip-hop track to sample Melvin Bliss’s ‘Synthetic Substitution,’ which has since become one of the most sampled songs in hip-hop history. The music video, which captures the raw energy and unconventional style of the group, helped establish Ultramagnetic MCs as innovators in the genre.
