Wilkinson Wash Away

Fresh from dropping ‘Sweet Lies’ and underground banger ‘Brand New’, Wilkinson returned to 2017 with the hard-hitting “We Will Be”, ft. Matt Wills. Now sharing another track from the forthcoming ‘Hypnotic’ album, Wilkinson reveals the video for “Wash Away”, a track which he tags as his favourite on the project.

The video, filmed in and around Newquay, features UK Number 1 and World Ranked UK Surf Champion, Tom Butler. Tom and Wilkinson met at Boardmasters festival last year, and realised that not only sharing a birthday, but also being the same age – they actually had a friend in common, Wilkinson’s cousin. While shooting this video, the pair noticed a swimmer in distress and swam out to rescue them… succeeding! A true story, and one that makes this visual and accompanying single all the more powerful “Wash Away” is a poignant and awe-inspiring moment on the Hypnotic album, and the visual, directed by Tai Chi, perfectly conveys this evocative and euphoric sound.

Wilkinson smashes down the barriers of Drum’n’Bass with ‘Hypnotic’, fusing the genre he grew up listening to with pop sensibilities that appeal to a global audience, whilst experimenting with different tempos and genres. Always keen to champion new rising talent, Wilkinson has teamed up with some of dance music’s rising stars including Shannon Saunders, Matt Wills and Karen Harding and established talent in the form of Wretch 32. Speaking of the album, Wilkinson added: “Some people tell me albums are dead. But for me as an artist its important for my soul, for my story, and I believe an album is a proper bookmark in an artists career. Otherwise its single, single, single and the substance of making music can become tired and too formulaic. I want to try different things, fuck up the tempos and take a few risks. For me an album is the only way to truly do this and I’m personally very content and proud of this body of work. I feel like its my best yet. And my Mum rates it, so I’m good.”

Hailed as one of the brightest stars in dance music, ‘Hypnotic’ follows Wilkinson’s debut album Lazers Not Included. Lazers Not Included went to Number 1 on the iTunes Dance Chart in ten different countries, and spawned four Top 40 singles for Wilkinson, including his top-ten, smash single “Afterglow”, which saw worldwide success – selling 400,000 copies, a million records sold and 100 Million global streams.

Hailing from South West London, Wilkinson, signed to RAM Records / Virgin EMI, has remixed some of the world’s biggest artists including Ed Sheeran, The Prodigy, Chase & Status, Naughty Boy, Wretch 32, Katy B and Laura Mvula. Wilkinson has previously scooped ‘Best Single’, ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Video’, ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the National Drum & Bass Awards, not to mention the VEVO Viewers Award at the MVA’s.

Wilkinson has become one of the most exciting live artists in dance music and has headlined festival stages at Wireless, Nass, Boardmasters, Parklife, V Festival, as well as his own Ibiza residency at Together at Amnesia. He will perform across the UK and Europe this Summer also.
