A retro-inspired drama set in the 1960s, “Babe” portrays a love triangle involving a married couple and a secretary. Jennifer Nettles plays the betrayed wife, Taylor Swift embodies the redheaded “other woman,” and Brandon Routh stars as the unfaithful husband. The video’s aesthetic draws heavily from the TV series “Mad Men”, featuring vintage costumes and settings. Directed by Anthony Mandler, the visual narrative was conceptualized by Swift herself. The music video premiered on June 9, 2018, following a teaser during the 2018 CMT Music Awards.
